Dionisio Metal & Iron Material Acceptance Policy (Motor Vehicle, Appliance & Material Supplier Certification)

The EPA's Clean Air Act prohibits individuals from knowingly venting ozone depleting compounds used as refrigerants into the atmosphere while maintaining, repairing, or disposing air conditioning or refrigeration equipment. The EPA has also passed new mandates that require scrap metal recyclers to minimize the amount of mercury in the scrap metal they process. As a scrap metal processor, we are required to abide by both of these EPA regulations.

To comply with Federal and State regulations, Dionisio Metal & Iron Inc. has developed a certification program which requires our suppliers to certify that CFC and/or HCFC/ PCB’s as well as mercury switches, along with other materials that we cannot accept have been removed prior to their arrival at our facility. The complete list is as follows:
  • Asbestos containing materials;
  • Chemical s (antifreeze, oils, gasoline, combustible liquids, and hazardous waste materials or substances); Explosives and pyrotechnic devices (air bags);
  • Fluorescent light ballasts containing PCBs: Fluorescent light bulbs;
  • Mercury containing thermometers, thermostats;
  • Munitions, bullets, Military Target range scrap;
  • Gas, Compressed or Pressurized cylinders not satisfactorily opened; of any kind or quantity;
  • PCB containing materials, transformers containing PCB’s, and PCB containing equipment Radioactive materials and equipment;
  • Televisions and computer monitors;
  • Back-Up power supply units.
  • Fracking pipe
As a processor of the scrap metals, motor vehicles, appliances, and/or materials that at you provide, Dionisio Metal & Iron Inc., requires you to complete, sign and return the vendor certification that details the practices you have in place to ensure the above-listed prohibited items have been removed prior to sale of materials to Dionisio Metal & Iron Inc.

As a scrap metal /motor vehicle/appliance/material vendor, we recognize the need to minimize the presence of mercury in scrap from vehicles and have implemented steps to do so.

As a scrap metal/motor vehicle/appliance/ material vendor, we have a source control program in place to ensure the removal of mercury switches prior to the sale of automobile scrap to Dionisio Metal & Iron Inc.

As a scrap metal/motor vehicle/appliance/material vendor, we are an active participant in a recognized mercury switch removal such as the National Vehicle Mercury Switch Removal Program (ELVS).

As a scrap metal /motor vehicle/appliance/material vendor, we regularly communicate to our providers (vendors) of scrap motor vehicles the need to participate in a mercury switch removal program.

We look forward to continuing to do business with you. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to contact our office at 719-544-3488
